Octavia & Mariquita?
1911 - 2011 By Alastair Mitchell and David Gray, A.Mylne & Co.
Alfred Mylne, Sir William Burton and Octavia are three names synonymous with yacht racing at the beginning of the 20th Century. Alfred Mylne’s designs and Sir William Burton’s exploits inspired a generation of professional and amateur yachtsmen (and women). Mylne’s design in particular carved a groove and style that many strove to emulate, and can still be seen in his later cruising yachts such as Thendara, Eileen II, The Blue Peter & Mariella.
