In 1912, Alfred Mylne's brother Charles Mylne joined the business. Charles had already had one successful career in South Africa establishing a network of Banks in the country. He returned to the family home on the Island of Bute, and between them they took on a small yard at Ardmaleish Point which was to serve as the main build yard for Mylne yachts for the next 65 years. Alfred Mylne continued to operate the design business from Glasgow, and supply designs to yards around the world - but the Bute Slip Dock was where the alchemy could take place, where new ideas could be developed and put into practice.

Though no longer connected to the Mylne design business, the yard continues in operation to this day as the Ardmaleish Boat Yard, and serves both commercial and yachting interests.
