A Mylne & Co, established in 1896 by the famous yacht designer Alfred Mylne. Alfred Mylne started working for G L Watson and soon set up business in Glasgow on his own specialising in racing yacht design. Alfred Mylne II took over and in 1959 the well known author and surveyor Ian Nicolson.A contemporary of William Fife their yacht designs were often competing for top honours in the major yachting regattas throughout the world. A regular client was Sir William Burton and Sir Thomas Lipton also steered some of A Mylne’s yachts. Whilst renowned for his yacht design Alfred Mylne also produced some of the world’s finest steam yachts such as Atlantide, which can now be seen gracing the Med.
