Alfred Mylne designed over 400 motor and sailing yachts between 1896 and 1945. Shown here are a few of these designs, carefully selected to demonstrate the beauty and variety of a lifetime's work. The sailing yachts show Mylne's classic spoon bow, pleasing shear and attractive counter stern. You can see in the sail plans the progress from low Gaff rigs to towering Bermudan sails, supported by "Marconi" masts. Mylne had a belief that yachts should not only be fast and efficient, but that they should last 50 years. Many are now over 100 years old and still sailing strong today! In their day these were cutting edge designs. They were always beautiful, now we recognise them as true classics. Click here to view the prints
