Historical Context
Alfred Mylne (1881–1955) was a Scottish yacht designer of considerable reputation, whose practice spanned the early-to-mid twentieth century. He designed vessels across multiple categories, from small cruising yachts to larger ocean-going designs. The Gunter rig, whilst not as prevalent as Bermudian or gaff configurations in Mylne's overall output, appeared in several of his designs during his career. Design 282 forms part of a comprehensive archive numbering several hundred yacht designs, though not all designs were necessarily constructed.
