Historical Context
Alfred Mylne (1881–1960) was a Scottish naval architect and yacht designer of considerable reputation. His career spanned several decades, during which he produced designs for a wide range of vessels, from large ocean-going yachts to smaller cruising craft. The Mylne design archive preserves a significant portion of his professional output. Many designs within the archive represent commissions that were built by various shipyards; others remain as design studies. The systematic preservation of these drawings provides important documentation of early-to-mid twentieth-century yacht design methodology and aesthetic principles.
