Historical Context

Alfred Mylne (1881–1969) was a Scottish yacht designer of considerable repute, whose practice spanned several decades of twentieth-century naval architecture. His designs encompassed a wide range of vessel types and sizes, from small cruising yachts to larger auxiliary and motor vessels. The Mylne archive preserves drawings and records of numerous designs, many of which were built and sailed extensively. Design 506, whilst documented in the archive, lacks sufficient contextual information at present to situate it precisely within Mylne's broader design chronology or to assess its technical or historical significance.
