Eileen is a 12-metre cutter designed by A. Mylne & Co. (Design No. 101) and built by McAllister of Dumbarton in 1904. Originally built for Sir Charles McIver, the yacht gained note as a competitor in the first 12-metre class contest ever held, racing against Kelpie—another Mylne design—in 1907. She was later owned by Sydney Mason and renamed Eileen V. Current status and location are not established.

Historical Context

Eileen was designed during the formative period of A. Mylne & Co.'s practice, when the office was developing its reputation for competitive racing yachts. The 12-metre class, which became internationally standardised under the International Yacht Racing Union, was in its early stages of formalisation in the early 1900s. The 1907 race between Eileen and Kelpie represents documentary evidence of 12-metre class competition at a time when the class was still establishing itself. Mylne's willingness to design for this emerging class, and the apparent performance of his designs, positioned the office as a significant contributor to the development of metre-class yacht racing in Scotland.
