Failte
Failte is an auxiliary ketch built in 1964 to design 457 by A. Mylne & Co., a leading Scottish yacht design office. She was constructed at Bute Slip Dock on the Isle of Bute. The design was completed in 1963. As a working ketch configuration, Failte exemplifies the practical cruising vessels that formed a significant part of Mylne's output during the post-war period. The yacht remains in existence.

Historical Context
Design 457 belongs to the middle period of A. Mylne & Co.'s practice (1896–c.1980), when the office was producing a diverse range of working and cruising vessels. The 1960s saw continued demand for practical auxiliary motor-sailers and ketches, particularly among owner-operators and small commercial ventures. Bute Slip Dock, located on the Isle of Bute in the Firth of Clyde, was one of several Scottish yards executing Mylne designs during this era. The auxiliary ketch type represents a significant strand of Mylne's portfolio—practical, seaworthy designs built for durability rather than speed or novelty.
