Historical Context

Design 395 was produced by A. Mylne & Co. in 1939, the final year before the Second World War halted much of the British yacht-building industry. The design office, established in 1896, continued to produce cruising and racing designs throughout this period. Bute Slip Dock, located on the Isle of Bute in the Firth of Clyde, was among several Scottish yards that built to Mylne specifications. Yachts of this size and draft were suited to coastal and offshore cruising in northern European waters. The survival of Jenetta provides a rare example of a Mylne design from this transitional pre-war era.
