Historical Context
Alfred Mylne maintained an active design practice throughout the early and mid-twentieth century. The year 1938 places Morva's construction in the final years before the Second World War, a period during which private yacht building continued in British yards, albeit increasingly constrained by economic and political circumstances. The survival of design drawings from commissions of this era depends upon archival practice and the retention of office records. The eleven drawings preserved for Design 391 form part of the larger corpus of Mylne's work, which is maintained and made accessible through the archive.
