Historical Context

Design 391 was produced during 1938, a year in which A. Mylne & Co. remained active in creating cruising yacht designs despite the approaching Second World War. The Port Mellon yard of G P Mitchell was one of several west-coast builders commissioned to construct Mylne designs during this period. Morva exemplifies the practical cruising yacht type that characterised much of Mylne's work in the 1930s—vessels combining seaworthiness with moderate dimensions suitable for British waters.
