Historical Context

Alfred Mylne (1881–1951) was a Scottish yacht designer of considerable reputation whose office in Helensburgh produced designs for vessels ranging from small cruisers to substantial ocean-going yachts. The 1930s witnessed continued activity in Mylne's practice, though the Second World War curtailed new commissions. Design 393 belongs to this period. The single known realisation, Pandora of Rhu built in 1938, was launched during the final years of peace before wartime restrictions affected the leisure yacht industry.
