Historical Context
Design 80 (Zanetta) emerged during A. Mylne & Co.'s first decade of operation. The practice, founded in 1896, had by 1903 begun to develop a diverse portfolio ranging from small cruisers to larger yachts. The selection of J. Clancy of Dun Laoghaire as builder indicates that Mylne's designs were being actively marketed and constructed in Ireland as well as Scotland during the Edwardian period. Naneen's survival is significant; many yachts from this era were lost or extensively modified, making intact examples valuable records of early-twentieth-century design and building practice.
