Historical Context

Design 41 was produced by A. Mylne & Co. in 1899, during the first decade of the office's operation. The firm, established in 1896, was rapidly building its reputation for practical cruising and fishing vessels suited to Scottish waters and beyond. McAllister of Dumbarton was a recognised shipbuilding centre on the Clyde. The decision to add motor power in 1966 reflects broader maritime trends of that era, when auxiliary engines became standard on cruising yachts. The survival of Tigris into the present represents one of the longer-lived examples among Mylne designs of this period.
