Tory
Tory was an auxiliary yawl built in 1911 by Hilditch of Carrickfergus to design number 193, the Vaila class created by A. Mylne & Co. Measuring 27 feet on the waterline with a beam of 9 feet, she was designed for coastal cruising and working under sail and auxiliary power. The vessel later received a Pertol Motor 4-cylinder engine of 10 BHP, based on a Ford '68 unit. Her current status and location remain unknown.

Historical Context
The year 1911 placed Tory's design at the height of A. Mylne & Co.'s early influence in Scottish yacht design. The firm, established in 1896, was building its reputation through practical, well-proportioned cruising yachts suited to Scottish waters and coastal trading. The auxiliary yawl type was then standard for owner-captained vessels engaged in fishing, trading, and leisure cruising. Hilditch of Carrickfergus was one of several established Northern Irish builders working to Mylne designs during this period. The Vaila class represented the kind of modest, seaworthy vessel that formed the backbone of small-craft activity in the Irish Sea and west coast Scottish trades.
