Historical Context

Design Corona was created by A. Mylne & Co. in 1900, a period when the office was establishing itself as a leading Scottish yacht design practice. The early 1900s saw strong demand for small to medium cruising yachts among both amateur and semi-professional owners. Hilditch of Carrickfergus was among the regional builders capable of executing Mylne designs to good standards. Yellow Wagtail exemplifies the accessible cruising yacht class that formed a significant part of Mylne's output during this formative decade, before the office became known for larger and more ambitious designs.
