Historical Context

Design 370 Meraquita emerged from A. Mylne & Co. during the early 1930s, a period when the office was producing a varied portfolio of small cruising and day-sailing designs alongside larger commissions. The design was taken up by A M Dickies of Bangor, one of a number of Welsh and British builders who constructed yachts to Mylne specifications. The 18-foot waterline length placed Tricia within the modest-sized cruiser category popular among amateur owners of the era. The vessel's eventual loss reflects the attrition suffered by many wooden yachts of this vintage through the mid to late twentieth century.
